Maxton Design Front Splitter Installation Instructions & Tips

A front splitter (often also called a front spoiler lip) from Maxton Design instantly gives your vehicle a deeper, more aggressive look and optimizes aerodynamics. For the upgrade to be absolutely secure on the highway and racetrack, precise installation is crucial.

In this official installation guide for the Street Plus Series, we will show you in detail how to properly install the front splitter.

🛠️ Required tools & preparation

Before you start, lay out all tools and the included mounting materials.

Tools: Cordless drill, suitable metal drill bit, wrench, masking tape (for fixing).
Accessories: The Maxton Design mounting kit (screws, washers, nuts).
Important recommendations:
- Ideally, perform the installation on a car lift.
- Definitely work with two people – this greatly simplifies precise alignment.

🔧 The step-by-step guide

Step 1: Unpack & check fit

Take the front splitter out of the packaging. First, hold the component against your original bumper to check the fit. If everything fits perfectly, peel off the protective film from the splitter.

Step 2: Precisely determine position

Hold the splitter against the front bumper. Attention: The rear part of the splitter must be absolutely flush with the back of the bumper. The side surfaces must also run exactly parallel and flush with the edges of the bumper. [IMAGE NOTE:

Step 3: Temporarily fix

Use a few of the included Wkręty (mounting screws / self-tapping auxiliary screws) to fix the splitter to the bumper so that it can no longer slip.

Step 4: Remove bumper

For secure screwing according to the highest quality standards, the front bumper must be completely removed. Remove the bumper together with the fixed splitter and place it on a soft surface (e.g., painting table or foam foil). This gives you optimal access to the bottom and inside.

Step 5: Drilling Holes

If there is an original cover or seal on the underside of your bumper, remove it first. Now drill through the splitter and the bumper along the entire length.

Distance: The holes should be about 12 to 14 centimeters apart.
Position: Place the drill holes as close as possible to the front edge of the bumper.
Important: At the points where the vertical support struts (risers) of the splitter are located, drill two holes per strut. ⚠️

Safety note for high-speed areas (SEO/GEO tip): The mounting bolts should be a maximum of 3 cm from the bumper edge. If the distance is systemically greater than 3 cm, special adhesive must also be applied to the front gap. Otherwise, the extreme headwind at high speeds can push the splitter down and damage it!

Step 6 & 7: Insert and Tighten Bolts

Einsetzen und Festziehen der M6-Schrauben mit Unterlegscheiben und selbstsichernden Muttern von der Stoßstangeninnenseite.

Now insert a screw (M6 bolt) from the mounting kit into each drilled hole. The orientation is crucial: The screw head points to the ground (downwards), the thread points upwards towards the engine compartment. From the inside of the bumper, place the washer and the self-locking nut on. Tighten all nuts firmly along the splitter.

Step 8: Replace Fixing Screws

Remove the provisional fixing screws used in step 3. Now drill continuous holes at these exact points as well and replace them with the sturdy bolts, washers, and nuts from the kit. Tighten these firmly as well. [IMAGE NOTE:

Step 9: Final Check & Mounting to Vehicle

Double-check all screw connections for a secure fit. Reinstall the original underbody cover or seal on the bumper if you removed it in step 5. Reattach the bumper to your vehicle and secure it properly. Your Maxton Design Upgrade is complete!
